superior cerebellar artery

The superior cerebellar artery (SCA) arises near the termination of the basilar artery. It passes lateralward, immediately below the oculomotor nerve, which separates it from the posterior cerebral artery, winds around the cerebral peduncle, close to the trochlear nerve, and, arriving at the upper surface of the cerebellum, divides into branches which ramify in the pia mater and anastomose with those of the inferior cerebellar arteries. Several branches are given to the pineal body, the anterior medullary velum, and the tela chorioidea of the third ventricle. [WP,unvetted]. The atlas records it as a artery at the organ scale in the human body.

Where the superior cerebellar artery is

It sits in the head, within the cardiovascular system. Not positioned individually. Drawn inside the structure this dataset says contains it — the containment is asserted, the exact spot within it is not.

What the superior cerebellar artery connects to

The atlas records 9 typed relationships for it, across 3 kinds of connection. part of blood vasculature, head and vasculature of head.

Supply and innervation

This dataset asserts no arterial supply, venous drainage or innervation for the superior cerebellar artery. Only a minority of structures carry those edges here, so an empty answer means nothing has been recorded — not that there is nothing to record.

Also called

Also recorded as arteria superior cerebelli. Searching any of those names reaches this page.

Questions

Where is the superior cerebellar artery?

It sits in the head, within the cardiovascular system. Not positioned individually. Drawn inside the structure this dataset says contains it — the containment is asserted, the exact spot within it is not.

What does the superior cerebellar artery connect to?

Part of: blood vasculature, head and vasculature of head.

Is the superior cerebellar artery the same in other species?

Leumas holds the same relationship vocabulary for every species it carries, so where another dataset records this structure you can put the two side by side on /compare.
