The data, and where it came from

Every dataset behind this atlas, its source, its version, its licence and its ingest report — published because a knowledge product you cannot check is one you should not trust.

Licences are checked before a dataset ships

The licence manifest tracks seven separate axes — software, ontology, descriptive text, curated relationships, geometry, condition data and phenotype data — because a dataset can be free to redistribute in one of those and not another. A build fails if a shipped dataset cites a source the manifest does not list.

The ingest report is public

Every species carries the report its import produced: what was selected, what was dropped and why. Publishing it is unusual, and it is the only way a reader can tell a gap in the data from a gap in the body.

Scope is recorded per species

A claim cited to a human textbook is not evidence about a dog. Each dataset records the scope its sources actually cover, so a cross-species citation cannot pass silently.

Can I use this data?

The ontology content is CC BY 4.0 and must be attributed as the manifest states. Check the licence row for the specific dataset before redistributing it.
