What this atlas is, what it deliberately is not, and how to read the parts of it that are easy to misread.

An empty relationship list is about the data

Every organ has a blood supply. This dataset asserts one for a minority of them. When a page says no arterial supply is recorded, that is a statement about what has been ingested — never a claim that the structure has none.

The geometry is schematic

Where a structure has a shape at all it is a primitive at roughly the right position, not organ shape. The viewer marks it, and the atlas is designed so that no answer depends on the geometry being better than that.

A variant does not hide anatomy

Sex is a variant of a species, not a switch over one body. The structures absent from a variant are absent everywhere in it — graph, search, relationships and manifest — so asking for one correctly returns nothing rather than an empty shell.

Why there is no symptom checker

The line this product holds is between what a structure is and how it relates, and what is wrong with you. The second is medicine, it needs a clinician, and building a verb for it here would change what this site is.

Questions

How many structures are there?

The counts are printed on each species page and on /data, from the datasets themselves, because a number typed into prose goes stale the next time a dataset is imported.

Can I add a species?

Yes — a licensed dataset and an ingest profile, and it runs through the same engine. Nothing in the code needs to change.
