hindbrain
The most posterior of the three principal regions of the brain. In mammals and birds the hindbrain is divided into a rostral metencephalon and a caudal myelencephalon. In zebrafish, with the exception of the cerebellum, the ventral remainder of the metencephalon can be separated only arbitrarily from the more caudal myelencephalic portion of the medulla oblongata (From: Neuroanatomy of the Zebrafish Brain)[ZFA]. Organ component of neuraxis that has as its parts the pons, cerebellum and medulla oblongata[FMA]. Every claim on this page comes from the Leumas anatomy graph and carries its source.
What the hindbrain is
The most posterior of the three principal regions of the brain. The atlas records it as a nerve at the organ scale in the human body.
Where the hindbrain is
It sits within the nervous system. Not positioned individually. Drawn inside the structure this dataset says contains it — the containment is asserted, the exact spot within it is not.
What the hindbrain connects to
The atlas records 40 typed relationships for it, across 8 kinds of connection. part of brain.
Supply and innervation
Arterial supply: basilar artery.
Also called
Also recorded as rhombencephalon. Searching any of those names reaches this page.

Questions
Where is the hindbrain?
It sits within the nervous system. Not positioned individually. Drawn inside the structure this dataset says contains it — the containment is asserted, the exact spot within it is not.
What does the hindbrain connect to?
Part of: brain.
Is the hindbrain the same in other species?
Leumas holds the same relationship vocabulary for every species it carries, so where another dataset records this structure you can put the two side by side on /compare.
