cerebellum in dogs

Part of the metencephalon that lies in the posterior cranial fossa behind the brain stem. It is concerned with the coordination of movement[MESH]. A large dorsally projecting part of the brain concerned especially with the coordination of muscles and the maintenance of bodily equilibrium, situated between the brain stem and the back of the cerebrum , and formed in humans of two lateral lobes and a median lobe[BTO]. Brain structure derived from the anterior hindbrain, and perhaps including posterior midbrain. The cerebellum plays a role in somatic motor function, the control of muscle tone, and balance[ZFA]. The atlas records it as a nerve at the organ scale in the dog.

Where the cerebellum is

It sits within the nervous system. Positioned deliberately as part of this species body plan.

What the cerebellum connects to

The atlas records 27 typed relationships for it, across 11 kinds of connection. part of anatomical entity, brain and hindbrain, and 2 more.

Supply and innervation

Arterial supply: cerebellar artery and superior cerebellar artery. Venous drainage: cerebellar vein.

Questions

Where is the cerebellum?

It sits within the nervous system. Positioned deliberately as part of this species body plan.

What does the cerebellum connect to?

Part of: anatomical entity, brain, hindbrain, metencephalon and nervous system.

Is the cerebellum the same in other species?

This page describes the dog. The human record of the same structure sits beside it on /compare, over one shared model rather than two atlases built separately.
